Do you enjoy creating an outstanding service experience, keep an overview even when several events are taking place at the same time, and want to actively shape and develop your area of responsibility? As Service Operations Manager (f/m/d) at our Düsseldorf Campus, you will take operational and organizational responsibility for our service operations. You will lead and coordinate internal and external service staff, ensure smooth service delivery at events, and continuously develop our service offering.

With your strong sense of hospitality, organization, and quality, you will help ensure that students, employees, and guests feel well looked after on our campus. 

This part-time position (20 hrs/week) is initially a one-year fixed-term contract with the potential to become extended or permanent.

Your mission

  • Together with another Service Operations Manager at the same level, you will share responsibility for the service area and take care of the recruitment, onboarding, training, management, and payroll administration of our internal and external service staff.
  • You will be responsible for staff scheduling and workforce planning, ensuring that the service area is appropriately staffed according to operational needs.
  • You will support events from a service perspective and, together with your team, ensure professional and smooth operations.
  • You will be a key point of contact for internal and external stakeholders regarding all matters related to events and service operations.
  • You will be responsible for purchasing and inventory management for the service area, ensuring quality, availability, and efficient cost management.

Your profile

  • You have completed vocational training or a degree, ideally in hospitality, hotel or restaurant management, event management, or a comparable field.
  • You have professional experience in a service-oriented environment and, ideally, have already taken on operational and/or leadership responsibilities.
  • You work independently and in a solution-oriented manner and are happy to take a hands-on approach in day-to-day service operations.
  • You enjoy leading, supporting, and developing people and are able to guide a team confidently, even during busy periods.
  • You are highly organized, work in a structured manner, and maintain an overview even when managing several tasks simultaneously.
  • You have a strong service and hospitality mindset and communicate confidently, professionally, and in a friendly manner with a wide range of stakeholders.
  • You have a good commercial mindset, understand the importance of cost awareness and efficient processes, and enjoy contributing your own ideas.
  • You have good German and English language skills and feel comfortable working in an international university environment.
  • You have the flexibility required for event operations and are willing to occasionally work evenings and weekends.
